If you want a battery that will start your car and give good service the Optima 6 volt battery is the best I have ever owned. You can buy just any 6 volt battery with the old type acid and 500 CCA that will last about 2 to 3 years and crank your car slowly, or an Optima that has lasted from some reports up to 11 years with over 800 CCA. I would buy from the supplier that gives the best price on an Optima 6 volt. If you want the Ford battery case I have seen those with the Optima battery inside them. All it takes is money.

Optima "Red Top" 6 volt-worth every dollar. I bought mine off of Amazon for $114 & free shipping.

And most standard 6 volt batteries are too tall
and will not allow for battery cover board to seat
unless you move battery straps lower on frame.

Optima, just put one in my 34, works great fits in stock battery box, just add some filler spacers, (insulation board, etc ) no acid flumes. Purchased from Amazon.com

Just looked at Optima site, can not tell if USA made, trying to purchase USA. I did purchase one and hope that it is USA, if you find a USA battery let me know, not High Jacking thread.

I'm with the guys who like the Optima. Bought a 6V Red Top for my avatar car this past spring. The best price I found was at Amazon with free shipping. I made a SS U shaped sheetmetal mount that clamps onto the original mounts and positions the battery 1-1/2" lower than the original mounting. Plenty of space between terminals and door/cover. This Optima spins my engine like it's 12V. I am not even planning to use a battery maintainer this winter because it does not seem to loose charge like the lead acid batteries I have used in the past.

Yes but, order a Deltran 6 volt battery charger. These are slow trickle charge that the Optima requires for slow charging. Both the red top Optima 6 volt and charger can be found on Amazon with free shipping. Don't waste your money on the Ford cased Optima battery. They are junk in my opinion.
Yes you will need to build a box for the red top Optima to fit in the battery box.

I just ordered the Optima 6 volt red top from Amazon, after searching it looks like the best deal and free shipping is always nice.

Everyone knows that the Optima Batteries are very, very good, but if you are looking for a cheaper option than Optima, try a CAT. These are made especially for Caterpillar Heavy Duty Machinery. I have one in my 34 Ford & they are a super battery & a great fit. Also, plenty of grunt.
