Im looking to have my Klaxon horn updated from 6 to 12 volts.
Can anyone suggest a good rebuilder ?
Like to use someone from here.
Thanks guys..

You could also keep the horn stock and use a dropping resistor to drop from 12Volts to around 6Volts. It takes a pretty hefty resistor that will disipate about 10 watts as those horns take quite a bit of current. Some one posted a resistor they used as an Ohmite RKS2RO

The armature will not need to be reworked. Only the field coils. I am assuming the Klaxon is very similar to the Model A Sparton horn -and maybe the motor is the same. The field coils will need to be rewrapped with 22 ga coated copper wire. 100 wraps per field coil which comes out to be about 30 ft per coil ---if you get it right the first time. It is VERY time consuming. I have done 3 Sparton Model A Horns for myself and do not want ot get into the business. But i have approx 500 ft of the 22 ga with and would be willing to sell some of it.

I would check with Lloyd Kerr from the DMAFC. He rebuilds a lot of horns and could give you some good advice.

Brattons sells a inexpensive voltage reducer that fits inside the cover on the back of the horn. Snyders has one that mounts to the frame. I used the Brattons, easy to install, nothing to show on the outside, and less expensive and works well.
