If you have the 2pc. cap, you can convert to the crab style by changing the cap, rotor and replacing the bail on the distributor to two clips. Not a hard job. If you have the true helmet type distributor that some one has grafted to your 59ab, you need a 3-bolt-to-2-bolt adaptor, a distributor and a cam adaptor, I believe
Well i know the wires are not the problem b.c i switched them around and still got the same thing.. I did find the problem though when i took off the distributor. There is no breaker Gap on the right side of the points. its basically staying closed every time it rotates. I am going to adjust that side to .014-.016 and check the right side and try it again.
I don't think the point gap would effect just 2 cylinders. Sounds like plug wires, end connections of the plug wires, or gap of the rotor to to cap contacts. I would get a light bulb with leads and voltage supply and test from contact on the cap to plug connector. The ohmeter may work but not carry a load. Maybe it's not ellectrical at all put a bolt in the bad wire ends and see if they jumps a spark the a head nut. You may have sticky valves and need some MMO. G.M.
sanded the contacts and adjusted both sides of the points and its running great. the driver side point wasnt even coming open before. Thanks for your help
yea it does but i really appreciate you guys pointing me in the right direction. I will still get new spark cables as one of mine was split a little. Thanks again
