59a 6050b heads

I have a 1946 v8 flat head in my 39 ford standard its stock, and want to get more out of it.what can I do to these 59a 6050b heads, don't know whats the rite amount to plane them

If the heads have never been milled you can usually mill .050 Walt

Check what you currently have and go from there. You can use clay or aluminum foil rolled into balls, to check the current clearance between the pistons and the cylinders heads. It will not be constant so you need to check it several places on each piston.
