what do i have to do to make this change. puting 8ba in a 31 sedan hi boy. i have a set of 1940 A heads. is it true these will up the compression a little? getting a bubby chev. dizzy for the engine. the engine is a industral engine. are they the sameas a car, as far as cam and comp? reguards dick t.

A bunch of questions... I'll take a stab at a couple. The 1940A heads are not 59 heads, as the 59's were postwar. If using the 1940 heads, the valve chambers will have to be flycut for clearance. Depending on the pistons, there may be clearance problems there also?
Industrial engines cams and compression ratios are specific for static use at one RPM, generally not an engine for the street.
Bubba's conversion Chev distributor has a good reputation, but I wonder if it can really help an industrial engine through the range of RPMs? The cam is the fly in the ointment here.

110-4 19fordy. i have th 59a-b heads somewhere. i have a 50 8ba that i will use instead of the industeral engine. thanks for the link. reguards dick.

I would use a set of EAB heads. this will increase comp ratio a bit. water passage will all line up and you can use conventional thermostats.(use the full flow type)
