I'm starting with the bed of my '59 Effie and moving forward. Yesterday I removed the strips and took out what was left of the plank floor. None of the boards were good enough to take a pattern from, so I was wondering if anyone knew the dimensions of the pieces so I can make new?

It's a '59 short box step side. Many thanks! -Marc.

For my 51 F1, I got all the dimensions from Mid Fifty. I also got the drill bits for the hold down bolts from Harbor freight. Worked great.
Several other sites that sell the boards also have a diagram of the bed including bed dimensions,

I got my wood from Home depot. Did the routing and drilled mounting holes. I used Tung oil for the finish. Looks good ( I am not a perfect carpenter

Thanks! I'll have to check them out. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of wood did you use and how did you finish it?

I wasn't planning on staining and varnishing, or chrome strips. I want everything to be new, but this thing will also see use as a truck, so I want the bed to be functional. I was thinking about painting the boards. I'd also heard about using some kind of oil to preserve them. Ideas?

I used 1x6 Mahogany (3/4x 5 1/2). It is sold by the foot so I cut it a little long at the store. Sanded it down and treated it with 3 coats of Tung oil. Also put Turtle Ice synthetic polish on top which soaked in. I sanded lightly between coats. I think Tung oil comes from the Tung tree in Indonesia. It has been on for two years and looks like new, but the truck is in the garage and goes out for a ride once in a while. I think the oil would be good for a working truck because you can just recoat without sanding the old finish off.
Stainless steel strips hold up well, but if you have the original ones, I would use them until you have to replace them. Make sure your bed is square before you start,
