'59 Custom 300 with Fairlane Interior Trim

Hi,

This is my first post in this forum.

My Dad bought his brand new '59 Custom 300 4 door in Miami in September 1959. I still have the original paperwork! The Trim code was 032, which is described as "Radiant Green Sof-Textured Vinyl Bolster with Green Shadoweave Fabric"

This is the exact same wording as the Fairlane trim code 31.

From the attached document, I have deduced that as product run for '59 began to wind down (his date code is 14H --> August 14th 1959), they began fitting the cars with "deluxe" trim from the next model up:

  • Fairlane base trim in Customs
  • Fairlane 500 Trim in Fairlane base
  • Galaxie trim in Fairlaine 500

can anyone confirm this for a fact, and if so, what items were included in the upgrade:

  • Door panels ? (from photos, I have confirmed this).
  • Seat covers ?
  • Rear door armrests ?
  • Different headliner ?
  • Clock ? (quite sure not)

Thanks

Some interior upgrades were ordered by the dealer, they'd take a chance of selling a car with a better interior in it. Some cars were also ordered by the customer with an upgrade and never picked up.

If anyone really knows the '59 Ford, it will be Jerrys Classic Cars & Parts, he specializes in the '57 and '59 and is a wealth of information. Download his catalog, he should have a section in it about interiors. Or shoot him an email.
