59 Convertible to 57-8 Ranchero frame interchange?

I have a 59 Convertible with a bad frame and have found a 57-8 Ranchero frame for sale. Can anyone tell me if they will interchange. Or if they are a close match, what changes have to be made? Thanks in advance!!

I can not say that they will interchange, however, the frame for a convertible is usually stronger and has more cross or x members, the body may physically bolt on, but may not have enough support. only my opinion.---Jim

Not sure of the details, but I know there are some differences as the mounting kits available, from say, Dennis Carpenter exclude Rancheros and wagons. Due to non-availability of the Ranchero kit, I bought the one for "all others" and will have to improvise when I get ready to mount the body to the frame according to the Dennis Carpenter tech adviser. By this, I assume they are similar but not the same.

As Alaska Jim points out, convertible frames have more stable frames than do sedans due to the lack of roof support structure.

The convertible has a 2" longer wheelbase than the Ranchero, the body mounts are in different places, and the convertible has a large X shaped frame piece instead of the single tube center crossmember of the Ranchero, the rear spring mounting is different, to name a few. It is certainly not a bolt-in, but if you have the equipment and skills to re-manufacture the frame, it can be done. John

Like Hoosier said, different frame. The Ranchero is the smaller version like the Custom 300 sedans.

Thanks a lot guys. exactly the info I was looking for.

One more question, is the 57- 58 convertible frames the same as 1959?

If you want a convertible frame, I can get the contact info for Alvin Stadel in Columbus Montana. He has a nice convertible frame sitting in his yard for sale.
