59 AB a Ford or Mercury?

And...full fledged 59 239'd have been reported on here with the ledge, presumably engines made with bits of earlier casting tooling in very early postwar production.
MANY wartime Fords were 239's, including carriers. Actual British Fords were all 221 because they had basically 1937 tooling.
If you look closely at the pics in the Ford engine overhaul book, you will note an engine with manifold platform, 239 water holes, and full flow oiling fittings, presumably a wartime 29 type from a heavy truck or a carrier.

I was refereing to US production more than world production for war time. The Windsor plant and the plant in Dagenham were cranking them out like clock work but US production was a lot slower. They made a lot of tank & aircraft engines plus a butt load of G series 6-cylinder engines in the US plants. Jeep 4-bangers were made in abundance also.

I've been looking for more big truck production information in WWII but I still can't find much more than the G8T 6-cylinder.
