59 361FE exhaust manifold

Where can I get a replacement factory exhaust manifold for the 59 361 FE V8? Will other engine sizes fit such as the early 60s 352 or 390 work. I am ready to give up on mine on the drivers side. One of the ears is missing a piece and I can't keep a gasket sealed in it.

thanks in advance

Until someone else answers check out these links..... cuz I don't have a clue.
Based on 30 seconds of exhaustive research (pun intended) you've got a good chance the other manifolds (352/390) are at least very similar.

early 332 352 will fit.later ones may fit but in the early 60s they went from a flat gasket to the donut type.

Mac"s has new repros 1-877-220-8221
$275.95 each
No gasket was used by Ford between the head and manifold. In fact using a gasket will induce premature cracking of the exhaust manifold.

The machine shop that rebuilt the heads on my y-block told me the same thing.

Use a copper gasket between the heads and manifolds. They are a bit pricey but readily available at parts stores and e-Bay. I always had leaks until a fellow Edsel club member told me about them. Even though I had the heads and manifolds machined, they eventually leaked. Using the later manifold with the donut gasket is a good move; seals much better and you will not have a leak down the road. Most FE manifolds (i.e. 332, 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 401, 406, 427, 428) will work as long as they have two bolt holes on each port; one top and one bottom of the port. Some HP manifolds have four bolt holes at each port and will not fit your application due to steering box interference. The HP manifold is a sort of cast iron header that flows much better but because of this will only fit '60 and up chasses.

Good Edselling

If an ear breaks, if you still have the broken chunk, have an old guy weld it back on. I have gas welded cast iron manifolds for years, but had to give it up because of my health. If anyone needs to know how, just ask.

Thanks guys, I don't have the little ear piece. It was gone when I got the car. The Felpro gasket set doubled is what I used. Can you tell me what brand copper gasket to ask for?

Well..... the 59 352 Manifold from Summit is different. The 352 flange curves out toward the steering gear and the 361 flange is almost straight down and back. Any ideas where to get a good used one? I cleaned my old one up on a mill and put a copper gasket on it. No leaks right now but who knows down the road.

I see the one at Mac's. If I can't find a good used one I guess I will have to bite the bullet and get that one.

thanks

Was the one from Mac's truck application? Trucks may be different...not sure about that.

The Summit one was apparently for another application. I have not tried the one at Macs yet, they want 277 for it =[. I will if I can't find another. I will try Green Sales.

thanks

Look on ebay under Edsel parts. There are two folks I do business with for my 58. They have good stuff and mostly good prices. Musicmakercariokie from Fox Lake, WI and lilcountrygirl from UT (I think UT).
