57 -up y block distributor

Well there is one less , I grabbed one for $96.00 with free shipping. And FYI Advance Auto is out of stock on them, at least via Internet sales. Perhaps one of the stores has one on the shelf but if you try to order one it will come back as not available at payment time.

I just did a search this morning and found about 8 cardone 30-2808 for less than $100.00 buy it now and some for a little more with free shipping. There was some last week for about the same price. they sold out in one day. This was on E-bay.

I purchased one of those distributors from Advance early on Black Friday morning. I have not received any messages to say "on back order" or anything. It ended up being 55.29 for the distributor after their 25% off sale. (that would be 45.29 if I send them my core, but I do not know if I can do that at their store or not - will have to check). I also picked up a Fel-Pro set for the Y block for 83.99 (both rear main seal sets included, etc). This was free shipping to my house and I am going to get a $25 certificate if I place an order worth $50 or more online.

Seemed like a good deal to me.

Hope that distributor shows up, I got charged for it.

Daniel, I ordered a distributor from Advance Auto on the Black Friday Eve. My Paypal account still sez "Payment Pending". They say they don't charhe you until it ships, so we'll see. Maybe everyone is off for the Holidays??

I tried it with several online parts vendors. Within 3 to 5 days my pay pal account was credited because the order couldn't be filled. Not to be a kill joy that was my experience.

I will look at the Napa store in Mansfield, Ohio, where I work, tomorrow. I also will check the warehouses and the manufacturers.

Okay, I checked on the availability of Y block distributors, today, I referenced a 64, 292, Y Block. There are 2 available in the Napa system, as of now. One is available in the Kansas City warehouse, and one is available in the Sacramento, Ca. Warehouse. There are none available from the rebuilder at this time. The Napa part # is, 48-2808. We would sell this at, $71.49 plus a core charge of 33.33. Since there is a core charge, this would mean that they are still looking for usable cores to rebuild. Any Napa store should be able to order either one of these for you. There may be a shipping cost.

Thanks for checking. I'm 99% sure the one in Sacramento is the one I returned because it was the early '57 with the ball bearing advance plate and straight arm advance. It wouldn't work for me because I have a Ignitor III and it won't work in that distributor. I need the later one that has the advance plate similar to SBF and BBFs.

Its all us Aussie buying them :p

Ive been running mine for some time now with the Pertronix ignitor 3 and matching coil with a set of Mr Gasket 925D springs . Very early advance but the ol' gal loves it.

FWIW, I received a confirmation email this morning that the distributor was shipped to my house. The only thing listed on the tracking number for UPS was the distributor itself. They shipped the Fel Pro gasket kit separately.

The distributor, including the core charge, only cost me $46 to my door. Can't beat that. The 25% off and Free Shipping Black Friday sale really paid off. We will see what the distributor looks like when it arrives, but it is Cardone branding.

Hey Rev, mine was shipped today also, didn't get the BF free shipping tho. It's somewhere in Texas now...

That's the same setup I run. I may experiment and reinstall one of my stock springs to slow advance a little. I have it set at 14° initial and limited to 38° total.

I did forget to mention that I modified the timing plate mine would be about 12 initial and 35 -36 total, similar to you.. It does ramp up quick. Think Ive got about 15 degrees on top of that with the vacuum adv. From memory its 50 degrees total...Mmm sometimes my memory aint that good. :p

Cars an auto by the the way...Fordoooo..

Fellas, the distributor showed up today. It was the Motorcraft service replacement version with the triangulated neck underneath the main housing. Had the o-ring too of course. I actually like this version the best and will remove the o-ring.

The gasket set came in a different box.

Man what a deal for these parts on that Black Friday sale.

I found my invoice from last year and it was $45.29 after various discounts for mine.

I ordered a distributor for my y-block from Autozone Dec 26, came in today, $62.50 with a core. I also ordered a new Richporter distributor, (1964 f100 292 V8) yesterday, came in today.$80.00+tax. Looks like a great unit, came with two caps & rotors. Only one thing wrong, it's for a 302, not a 292. This is from O'Rilleys. I had another old one to compare, quite a difference, but the counter guy still insisted it would fit. Some only know numbers. Too bad, as it looked like a good unit. Auotzome lists one also, looks just like the Richporter, even has the same #'s jlb51

Thanks for posting that. I saw that same thing and was concerned that the same distributor was listed for both the Y-Block and SBF. I don't think Richporter makes a distributor for the Y-Block, their listing is messed up.
