57 Mercury gear ratio

I just picked up a 57 Mercury with a 312 & 3speed non-overdrive transmission. I was wondering if anyone knows what gearset they came with in the rear?
 
Lok on the 57 Ford web site, there is a decoder there, your body tag should have a letter that will decode, I am assuming Ford and Merk used the same codes. Also look at your third member, there may be a tag on it and it will tell you the ratio. Of the two 57s that had three speeds one had a 3:10 and the other had a 3:56.
 
jack up one rear wheel, leave one on the ground. put trans in nuetral, put a chalk mark on the drive line and one on the top of the tire, now turn the wheel 2 full turns while a buddy counts how many time the drive line turns, if its a 3:73 the drive line will turn 3 and 3/4 turns,if its a 4:11 , which is an over drive gear ration, the drive line will turn 4 and just a little more, you get the idea
