Anyone can tell me the order of the covers and hubcap on a 56 t bird continental kit. I took it off to repaint it and well I forgot how to put it back on. its been 6 mounths please forgive me. I can get everything on but the spoke beauty ring. I want to say it goes on top of the tire cover but there is no way to hold it on.

Hi,mount the back ring over spare tire bracket then mount the spare tire on three studs and tighten, now put the small hub cap on the spare wheel, next place the wire wheel clips on the spare wheel,I use five clips space evenly a part, now attach the clips to the back of wire wheel hub cap by springing them out,and after all clips are attached push in wire wheel hub cap. Now place tire cover fitting the back ring into it,next place the outer ring over the wire wheel hub cap and under the tire cover being careful not to scratch paint on rings.I hope this helps EPW

1) install tire on wheel carrier

2) install wheelcover or hubcap on wheel

3) place the faceplate on the backside of the tire (closest to the decklid). You need to bend the metal tabs around the tire tread to hold it in place.

4) install the cover that goes around the tire tread, but do not install the spring at the bottom yet. The tread cover goes over the rear faceplate a little bit, holding it firmly in place. You may need to tweek and adjust the rear faceplate to get it just right.

5) install the exposed faceplate by slighly pulling the tread cover apart and slipping the faceplate in under it. Now you can install the bottom spring that holds it all together.

Put it together in that exact order and you are done.

I have one on my 57 Skyliner, but no clasp on the bottom holding the tension on ring. So a spring is used for this, not a clamp with a wing nut?

Thanks guys got it on mine dosen't have the spring or the clasp. the front and back covers are held on with the tention of the center cover that goes around the wheel.

Popeye, do you see a provision on each end of the center peice at the bottom for installing a spring with hooks on each end ???

Well, then, I guess they only had the spring on the earlier models.
I found that without the spring tension compressing the tread ring against the faceplates, that the full faceplate had a tendency to sag a little, so I put the spring back on it. Never mind.

Ok Im still having problems figuring out how the clips go on. here is a pic of what I have. mabe I have the wrong clips or somthing.
