56 linkage hookup help.

I bought a later model stock 312 4 barrel intake to go on my 292. Its all on> I wanted to get away from the tall stock early 4 barrel. So now I was able to install a carter/elderbrock 650 cfm manual chocke carb in its place. Now comes the fun part. Not sure how or the best way to do it. But in the next couple days I plan on tackling the linkage to the carb. I do not think I will have a problem with the throttle linkage. ( I hope not ) But I am thinking I might with the transmission (passing gear)linkage. By the way this car has the stock 56 fordomatic trans. So the passing gear trans. linkage works off the carb. also.
Anyone done this linkage hookup, with sucess ? (how?) Can you explain? Or should I might as well think of going with a after market linkage setup. Like a Lacar or etc. Thanks !

The rod to the trans is not a kick-down but a Throttle Valve Rod. The pre-61 FOM/FX did not use a modulator valve but was controlled by a throttle valve actuated directly off the intake manifold bell-crank (think later AOD).

This setting must be exact. Refer to Shop Manual or someone may come on here and help you.

You should also go with the later (57/58) distributor as the 56 had LOAD-O-MATIC.

Hope this helps.
