I've had a 43K-mile '56 Ford Country Squire since 1990, and have been meaning to replace the two factory hood insulation pads pretty much ever since...bought the replacements about 10 years ago. Anyway, what's the rush but I'm finally doing it. My originals had the yellow out, black toward the hood--it doesn't seem that there was any sort of black outer layer that might have come off--I'm 99.9% sure that yellow-out is correct. Anyone know for sure--for that other .1%? Thanks.

When I got my '55 back in 1972 it still had the two hood insulation pads on either side of the air-cleaner. They appeared to be yellowish in color (but they were very dusty). I didn't know there was a black side to them.
