'56 332 Ford FE water pump leak

Water leak between pump and block lower mount bolt. Took the pomp off and found a bad gasket, and that particular bolt is the same length as the other 3 as i did measure them before i installed the new pump on the 1000 miles ago rebuild. so examing the block thru the water passage hole i found the sheltered area to have hole in it that alines with the mount hole. what is the best thing to do about it? its aways inside the block [about a finger length] ...........HELP!!! thanks
ps the other three mount hole are fine

Are you saying that one of the water pump mounting bolts is open to the water jacket? Is it the lower one on passenger side? A picture would be helpful.. Also in your title says 56 332 FE, Is the engine a 58 or 59 in a 56, just curious.

I believe that one is open to water and the other 3 are blind holes. Permatex makes a sealant for head bolts that go into water jackets you might try something like that. I use it on small blocks water pumps where the bolts pass into water jacket.

I am releived to get that info!! i am 75 years old and worked on ford engines alot but never experienced this leak nor did i ever know that water jacket is that way I learn something every day i will do the pematex sealent and put the old ford on the road again thank you for the come back and have a safe and happy holiday season!!
