'55 windshield seal

After twenty something years of mopping up rainwater on the floor and out of the spare tire well of the '55 Courier every time it rains, I finally broke down and took to the car to a place that installs car glass. The place was run by one guy. I started talking to him about the getting this done and the urethane sealer products. I brought a new tube of 3M "Window-Weld" for him to use, but he didn't want it. He was very knowlegable, but I was still a little skeptical. He started to clean out the grooves in the rubber first, so I knew he was on the right track to begin with, but the true test was going to be how well he was able to hold the caulk tip down in the rubber groove while dragging it along. It was going like a champ and there was one spot on the side where it was real tight, so he needed both hands to push on the caulk gun. I took his plastic tool and stuck it in ahead of his caulk tip and we drug it down together. I had him seal both the windshield and the back window. Finally he scraped the excess caulk that squeezed out of the rubber using a razor blade and the job looked very professional. The whole thing took exactly one hour to do two windows. He charged $50.00, but I am pleased with the job and kicking myself for not getting this done sooner.
After I get done messing with my car, I am going to take it to him to seal the windshield also as it leaks even worse than the wagon did.
