Hi, I'm in the process of installing a Ford AOD in a 55 tbird but have a problem adapting the AOD, with a plug in speedo set up, to the original speedo cable/housing set up...Any help/guidance will be appreciated...Bill

I have a an AOD in my 55 bird with a 292.
The clearances are close in that area by the frame X-member.
I had a new cable and housing built to fit at a local speedo shop (gone the way of new technology, unfortunately).
As I recall though mine just screwed into the transmission housing?
I can crawl under and take a look if you want. I don't remember that being one of the tough problems to solve.

You are not trying to use the original bird 90 degree housing are you? That won't be necessary.

Hi, I'm in Clinton, Okla, west of okc on I-40 bout 90 miles...Yes, the trans is really tight where the cable attaches...I do have the 90 degree adapter, but didn't plan to use it, does't look like it would fit...It would be nice if you could look at your setup...I am delaying putting the motor/trans in...Thanks...Bill Wells cell: 580-214-0896 e-mail: eunie@itlnet.net

ok, I know where you are. Hoping you were closer and I could easily drive to you. Still could if you need or vice versus.
Anyway Yes, you don't need the 90 degree adapter. I think I recall having my cable and housing made longer and I may have drilled a hole in the frame for it to pass through. I know I thought about it. It's been awhile.
I'll check for you, and let you know, and try to send some pics.
