Hello , just hoping someone can point me in the right direction. How do I remove the indicator switch/stalk from my fairlane.

I have replaced the bulbs , and flasher unit. When the left indicator is on only the rear light flashes. Not the front or the one in the dash. Right hand side works fine front and back and green one in the dash.

Thinking the switch may need a clean of the contacts, just not sure how it's removed.

Cheers, Mat.

The stalk should just unscrew. You'll need to remove the steering wheel to access 2 (I think) screws that secure the switch. Disconnect the harness near the bottom of the steering column. Pull on the switch while guiding the harness through the column. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.

before you pull it out tie a piece of strong string on wires.it will make it easier when reinstalling just reattach string to wire and pull back into place

The wiring of the turn signal switch is pretty involved due to running the brake lights through the rear lights. If this problem has only just arisen it is more likely as Dave says that you have an earth problem on the front indicator bucket. If you have only just picked this car up you may need to check the connections of the wires from the column with a voltmeter. Here is the wiring diagram for the lights.

Thanks for the help, the dash has recently been out so I may have dislodged an earth, but it was working when it first went back in... (Pilot light & front indicator) I will check the earths before I start to remove the switch. Cheers all.
