'54 Motor Mounts

I took my 256 Merc motor out to rebuild and thought I put the motor mounts back on the same way they were before but it won't line up correctly. I have them mounted with the open part of the "C" shape to the rear towards the firewall. Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

Yeah, I just looked at mine. The open part of the "C" and the scallops to access the block bolt heads face the firewall. Might try swapping side to side? Maybe they've settled over the years.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I had to take the mounts off of the engine and bolt them loosely to the frame. Made it hard to get the bolts lined up to bolt through the mounts and screwed into the block but that was the only way I could get the motor located properly.
