54 Mercury floor shift conversion

I'm in the process of converting my 54 Mercury conv. to power steering but there is no way to get the manual column shift to work. This is due to the power steering gearbox being longer than the manual box. Also, my steering conversion kit is made for 52-56 Fords. Fords have an external shift rod outside of the steering column whereas Mercury's have a tube inside the steering column that the shift levers fasten onto. I have a Hurst 3-speed floor shift conversion kit for Ford trucks but it won't work on my Borg-Warner, 3-speed with overdrive. The overdrive solenoid is in the way of the brackets for this unit. I need a kit where the shifter mounts near the top of the transmission instead of having the bracket down on the left side of the ****** where the overdrive solenoid mounts. If anybody knows of a place where I might find a kit to do this, give me a shout.
Thanks, Scott:(

Thanks Jeff, I'll give that a try. Late in the day so I sent them an Email inquiry. If I don't get a response, I'll call them Monday.

If you don't come up with something, scroll down to the Hot Rod Reverend's 1955 club sedan refresh blog. He's got some pictures of the floor shift on the trans on the bench. Also some stuff on building a steering column. Might be a picture or something that helps.

I resorted to EBay and found a guy with the ID there of 4ever4d named Mike who had bought out a Hurst dealer back in the 70's and had the conversion kit I needed. It was a tight fit, especially since my Merc is a convertible with the X frame. I had to cut a small notch in the frame for clearance.
