53 Mainline Steering Box Rebuild

I would check out Lares Corporation. They used to be the go to guys for steering; I just haven't looked lately.

I just checked with Lares Corp and got an estimate of under $400 to rebuild my 1950 Merc steering box. I am quite excited with the prospect of like-new steering.

Back story - I had a 1950 Merc as a teen in the mid 1950's. My only complaint about that car was sloppy steering. It's great to know I can have good steering on my current car.

Hope that the rebuild eliminates any perceived "sloppiness" for you but the factory 'bump-steer' will still be there.
