53 Ford Emergency Brake Question

These two springs were in a box carefully labeled "Emergency Brake Parts". Since there are two, I imagine one is right, and one is left. Anyone got a picture of where they go?

1953 Mercury dwgs. (which are virtually identical to Ford) do not show any thing. But, 1951 dwg. shows a return spring that hooks into the pull rod and somewhere on the frame.

Being labelled right and left makes me wonder if there is one to go somewhere inside each brake drum? I've got one rear drum off my 52 Merc now. I'll have to look and see if they have that type of spring , maybe as a return spring?

Don't waste your time, there isn't any spring in the rear brake that looks like it. And who said they were labeled left and right?

Same question, who said they were labeled right and left?

I'm pretty sure you nailed it 51 merc-ct ! Mine is missing that spring on the drawing you show so this must be it. There's nothing but air to attach the other end to, but I'm assuming once I get the transmission in I'll find the spot.

The '52-'53 Merc. dwg. shows that the spring was not used.
Only used on '50-'51. So it probably is not required.

Somebody assumed they were right and left. But hey, no problem, I had a look at mine anyway since the drum is off for maintenance. And there is no spring like that in there. Park brake or otherwise.
