53 8BA Feedback on bypass filter options

The bypass filters require an inlet restrictor and that has nothing to do with the rest of the system. There were different styles of inlet restrictors and they were in different locations. One was the T style that was located on the canister.

So still install the .060 on the inlet side to control the flow.
While the single orifice is the actual restriction then to get the pressure as it's already part of the canister as its barely over 040 as is?
If this was an OEM Ford can with the 2 holes then the inlet restrictor would be it.
If you can open up the one hole to .093", that would be virtually identical to the .0064 sq.in. area of the two holes.
Then add the .060 dia. hole to the inlet side.
This setup helps to lower pressure buildup in the canister.

The only way I could open the hole up more would be to first bore through the side of the canister. Don't have a tool to fit in to make the 90deg needed to reach it. The setup shoes no signs of past alteration...it came as is.
Oh okay. The single smaller hole in the internal riser is more or less moot...it just means the oil has more time in the filter.

Wonder where you stole those pictures from

How about a second small hole thru the inlet fitting opening?
Maybe more time in the filter but more pressure buildup.

MERC said "another hole in inlet fitting opening". I must've mistaken that for trying to add another hole in the inlet FITTING which same result could be achieved with one with larger orifice.
I can see this canister is a Can-O-Worms already. Inlet-restrictor or not there will be some pressure build up in can just due to the single .042 hole. Inletside would just keep the pump from trying to press the lid off sooner :P

Believe he was saying you could drill a second hole in the stand pipe by using a long bit through the inlet opening (without the restrictor in place) to get a straight shot at the stand pipe.

Ah I see. Didn't look to see if the inlet//orifice lined up. Will see about coming up with a means to drill a 2nd hole. Though is it really necessary? Beyond helping to relieve pressure in the canister. Did another quick search and someone else has same thing as mine with the 1 hole.

I just want to be sure I'm understand this correctly before I do something irreversible.

Add the hole to the inner tube thru the fitting opening

The original design was double the outlet area as the inlet. If it was me I would stick with the original proven design.

So the 0.060 inlet fitting and drill another hole next to the existing one in the riser of same size as the inlet. That's going to be tricky as hell. Will see what bits I can come up and just might then open up the existing hole more like MERC said.

EDIT: The hole does NOT line up with inlet...if inlet is at 12 o'clock then the hole is at about 8 o'clock. The bits I have are WAY too short. Looks Like I'll be borrowing a dremel. Too bad the riser isn't removable...
Apologies for my part in helping to beat this dead horse ad infinitum.
