52-54 idler arm bushing

What type do you have? I see 2 listings on that. With power steering its B3A-3352-A and comes with 2 bushings that slide on.

The manual steering B2A-3352-A has those threaded bushings, easy to spot with the 1" hex and grease fittings. The bushings internally are LH thread, where they go through the centerlink are RH thread.

Take the idler arm bracket off the frame, your best bet is to un-wind the arm out of the bushing at the centerlink first (LH thread..) then take the bushing out of the centerlink (RH thread). Do the same for the other end.

On mine, I took the whole centerlink out and held it in a sturdy vise. I still haven't reassembled it yet, but will be doing so soon, I'll report exactly what the shop manual says when I get home later tonight.

Once you are ready to put it back together, here's the deal from the (1959) shop manual:

Install the bushings into the bracket and center link. Torque to 85-100 ft-lbs.

Don't forget to install the new seals. Thread the idler arm into the center link until it bottoms out, back it off about 3/4 of a turn.

Thread the frame bracket/bushing onto the idler arm until the bushing bottoms out. Back off the bushing until the bracket mounting surface is parallel with the frame side member (verbatim from the manual...). Install the bracket onto the frame side member and torque to 25-35 ft-lbs.

Since the bushings are torqued into the bracket and center link already... I would just back out the idler arm from the bushing until the bracket lines up with the frame rail and call it done. And don't forget to grease it.
