‘51 Merc rebuild

So I’ve got an all original 1951 Mercury Sport Sedan that’s been in the family since the mid 1960’s. The car hasn’t run since 1972 I’m told. I pulled the heads and found a valve seat that was pulled out of the block and left a groove in the seat area. I’m near Chicago, can anyone recommend a reputable engine rebuilder or at least a machine shop that can repair the seat, magnaflux the block and drop in new valve seats? I’m fairly mechanically competent and can do the actual assembly myself if need be.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jason

Jason, Speed Performance Engineering in Wauconda rebuilt my '51 Mercury engine in 1998. They are still in business and my engine is still running strong. Others in the area have used Opel Automotive Engineering in Streamwood.

Hope this helps.
