'51 F1 226 frame/harmonic balancer clearance.

Has anyone struggled removing the fan belt on an F1 with the 226? Getting the belt between the crossmember and the pulley on the damper isn't possible. I'm going to loosen the motor mounts and jack up the motor, but I wonder if the donuts on the mounts have flattened out since I put this belt on around 1977? I don't remember this being an issue then.
 
I have had the same problem on both my 49 F-1 and my 51 F-1 with 226 motors, both had new motor mounts but had to jack the motor a little to change fan belts.
 
Thanks for confirming my thoughts. Just loosened the mounts and floor jacked the engine up a bit! I was worried because it's a '50 engine in a 51. I know the damper changed from a rubber harmonic balancer to a ferrous metal one, but the pulley size was identical.
