52 flathead single post temp sending unit orig works right meaning turn key on goes all way to left key off cold goes all way to right sometimes if u twist the screw which will pull out bout 1/4 in bought 2 so far new prob china made neither one reads close is there any out there that work proberly... seems like somewhere in the past saw an article on here about the new ones not working right
 
Is someone at Baxter still answering the phone? Most likely the repo units are a resistance style which will not work properly.
 
gauge should be all the way to right (hot), turn on switch, goes all the way to left (cold) and as engine warms up it goes to right to indicate temperature. on the sender there should be a number, what is it? different numbers for different applications. on 52 engines there is a temp sender on each head one has two connections, one has one connection. one with two is sensor that controls gauge, single unit is a high temp switch which just grounds out gauge and temp gauge goes to hot--hope this is correct or I might be backwards with which does which
