There were likely more of the built for the 1951 model year but I doubt if production went much over 2000 units. A lot of them probably ender up chopped, nosed, & shaved or some other unfortunate customization process.

Hey Dustersm

Whose car is the pictured Black and yellow Monterey?

Thanks, Gene Napoliello, lead author, for the developing Early Ford V-8 Club 49, 50, 51 Mercury Book.

When I was a kid, in the late '50's, there was a man who owned a '50 Lincoln Cosmopolitan ForDor Sport Sedan, which had a black & yellow hound’s-tooth checked vinyl roof. I've never seen another one.

The Cosmopolitan 2 door with vinyl top was called a Capri and they were very rare. The 4 door with vinyl top was probably done up special for the owner at a trim shop.

Some more at my one. Have a nother a non restored car as mine.
Pleas put up some pix. And how many are still out there??

Hey Dusters swe, Can you tell me where you found the info on Monterey Production numbers or how many were sent to each dealer ? Thanks, mercs

A month ago I would not have believed these existed-I toured an extensive car collection and one of these Montereys was in the collection. It was a survivor and looked great.

This 1950 Mercury Monterey attended the Golden Jubilee V8 Nationals, held at Lake Tahoe last year.
