The wire that goes from the heater switch to the motor. At what point on the firewall does it go through.

This is a my 51 Ford heater wire, should be the same as your 50 Ford. the ground wire screws into the firewall under the hood below the heater motor.51 had a two speed motor, hince the two wires you see. your 50 may have a single speed one wire motor

Mine goes through the grommet next to the choke cable. There is also a ground wire that attaches to the fire wall next to the heater hoses control valve. Check with shoeboxford.com someone there may have and original.

Thanks guys. My car is a convt and there is not a hole between the vin plate and heater hose. Maybe it came through the hole that the hydraulic lines for the top.
Nice pictures.

I see the crank pulley is black, as the restoration guide says it should be. I have a friend who says that is wrong and that the book is wrong!! He says there is no way that the engine was painted without the pulley installed. I have 2 that are black. Comments??

Well, in the early years of the flathead the castings were painted after machining and before any assembly at all...there were masking fixtures for the gasket surfaces and such. See the "as Henry built it" book. I think it is likely that way was followed in later years.
This means all accessories and hardware were not painted with block, and gaskets were not painted either.
All the pulleys I come into contact with are sheet metal and were black...but this raises a question: Some late flathead crank pulleys are cast. Were those masked and painted at the foundry along with block and heads??

Most heaters were not factory installed, they were dealer installed as a accessory. This should clear up the hole & wire placement
