50 F1 Door Lock Install Questions

Hey all,
I am in the process of installing new lock barrels in my F1. What type of hard ware is used to hold the lock in place?

Everywhere online just says it is a small allen bolt. But what does it go into? I see the hole to access it but there is nothing for a bolt to thread into on the door or the lock barrel itself.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is a long allen set screw that goes into a threaded tube inside the access hole you see. One way to remove the lock without the key is to break off that tube to remove the lock cylinder. It may have been broken off on your door.

After an extensive search i finally found a picture of the bracket. Mine is most certainly broken off. Does anyone know where i can find a replacement?

Mine is broken off too. There's no real way to get at the tube it attaches to without pulling the door skin. In desperation I made this repair piece. I took a threaded coupling (from True Value hardware), cut a groove around one end with a dremel disc. Then took a strap of sheet metal and drilled a hole in it, to match the groove diameter. I put the coupling in the hole and peened the coupling over the edge of the strap to lock it in. Then I bent the strap so it fits around the tube, like a hose clamp. I was able to get it so the coupling is over the hole in the tube and tighten it up. Then put a long allen-head screw thru the coupling to lock the cylinder in. It has held for 5 years.

The bracket is spot welded to the door. Could sand the paint off the outside skin around the lock hole to find the spot welds then drill them out and fix it on the bench and weld back in.
