49 Merc V8 Cable Clutch Linkage Conversion

Update ..I found a Ford Racing assembly for early Mustangs that would work with some minor fabrication or used as a model for a custom set up.

Might want to do a little research on that cable, not a good one to use!!! There are good cables, but that is not one of them. All of the mustang cables are the same length, so you could build/design to that one and then change it out if you have problems with it. They are not that expensive.

Will do. I'm not sure its the right length etc anyway. I started looking already at some others and was really thinking about fabing my own assembly if it makes sense. I still need to design a connection that will effectively rotate the clutch decouple shaft. What have you heard about this specific cable and are there any others you might recommend?
Thanks

The problem with the cables is they stretch and will not stay in adjustment. They work great if you can get a GOOD cable. The stock mustang cable is a good one. There are a lot of factors that make them work correctly: How they're mounted, the cable enclosure, and the pivot points. In the mustang you use what is called a quadrant that the end of the cable rotates around.

The system I saw had an adjustable cable. I assume that would be an advantage to adjust cables that stretch over time. I saw the quadrant but was not sure yet where they are mounted and used.
