Don't know if this has been done. Want to convert my 49 F1 from a 3 spd on floor to a 4 or 5 speed. I've read the post on the T5 conversion but having a helluva time locating a 83 -86 5 spd. Anyone tried a newer model 5 spd say 93 - 2000 5 spd borg/warner trans ? seem like a lot of newer T5 floating around

Starting in late 1992 the T5 went to an electronic speedometer. The S10, S15, and some Jeep units have better shifter placement for the 39-46 cabs (don't know about your cab). Once you have a transmission look at the metal tag attached with a bolt somewhere on the case. The number you are looking for begins with 1352-xxx. the three xxx will decode to the specific application (vehicle the transmission was installed in). Then you can decode to the gear ratios. If you can confirm what the T5 was installed in there is a pretty good chance the tag can be verified. With all these units around a lot of them have been pieced together. I bought a T5 of unknown origin. I paid for ,and thought I was getting a NWC (non world class) unit but was pleased to find it was a WC (world class unit). Search Utube (T5) and you will find a lot of information.
Good luck:D

The only disadvantage of the later WC S-10 T5's is that they use a Ford bolt pattern at the bellhousing to trans connection. As far as I know, only Cornhuskers makes an adapter for the T5's with this bolt pattern. $$$$$
