HI - Having given up long ago on my fuel pump and installed a elec, I read the latest article in V8 Times which said the the push rod travel should be approx 3/8 of an inch. Mine measures approx 3/16. I'm assuming this means the cam lobe is worn. Am I correct and is there a fix for this other than a new cam. Thanks

I have never found a lift spec for this in any Ford USA or Canada publication I have, and I have a lot. In one bulletin, they show a nifty KRW indicator to measure pushrod travel, but do not give a number for those without the gadget!

I know it is not the way to fix the problem correctly , but that is why you will find a small pc of leather up in the pump socket to compensate for slack, my daddy was a ford trained mechanicin the 40s n 50s he would always wink as he ( fixed :<) the fuel pump .flatheadernie n tx.

Thanks, I contemplated welding *** on the top of the push rod but the leather sounds like a better deal. I'll give it a try when the weather cools off. My shop has no a/c.
Would still like to know the exact travel if anyone knows.
