What are the best spark plugs to use in a 59-AB engine? Which ones will make the engine run its best, I'm not worried about "correct part numbers" as it will not be judged, car is a driver. Also what is the correct gauge battery cable between the battery and solenoid? Mine says #2 gauge, is that correct and where is the best place to get the right ones?

Thanks
Jeff

Is your electrical system 6 or 12 volts? #2 wire should be OK for 12v but I'd use bigger for 6V. I use both Champion H10 and Autolite 216 spark plugs. Nostalga tells me to use Champions but the Autolites seem to work OK. Some folks like the NKG (or NGK?) plugs. You may have to do some experimenting to see what works best in your car. Flatheads are a lot like girls, There are no two that act exactly alike.OMO

Here's the one I got from Dennis Carpenter that is the proper gauge and cloth wound like original: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb...~S3JB0RE27C66219210424g~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50000024Q It's at least 0 size which is what you need. 00 would work too. I didn't lose any points on it in concourse judging.

I second Henry/Kokomo on the plugs. Although I used to use the Champions (Ford specs) I like the black color of the Autolite better and are now using them.

My 46 59ab will turn 50,000 miles this month. Burns/leaks 3/4 qt per 1000 miles (not bad for an old flathead). Champion H-12 work great and stay clean.
