Ok I did search but could not find anything. I'm ready to remove the windshield from my 47 (42-47 Water Truck). I have remove all the interior metal trim. I attempted to push a little on both inside and outside of the window with no budge. The glass is in very good shape and I would like to keep it. It has a inspection sticker from New Mexico from the 50's on it.

Do any of the 42-47 crown have recommendation on the removal of the glass without breaking them out? The rubber will be replaced with new so is cutting the best option? Thanks

Cut the rubber with a razor knife. Its tough stuff to cut so take your time if you want to salvage the glass. After you cut all the way around the edge soak the remaining rubber with kerosene to soften it up. Make sure you got help so you dont slip and drop the glass. Push it out from the inside. The center of the two rubbers over lap so make sure you cut them free of each other.

Thanks Skids, I figured I would have to cut it out. the kerosene trick I will have to try. I also forgot to mention I was no able to get the out side center trim piece removed easily. Does that just pry off?

glass goes in from INSIDE so must go out from inside--cut the the rubber seal on the outside and gently push from the outside-get some one to help you catch it. I use WD 40 or master blaster as a lubricant. The center metal piece on the outside goes thru both halves of the windshield seals (two pieces) to holds them together- it just sticks to the rubber seals
