'47 Super Deluxe V8 Oil Filter

I pulled the oil filter out and cleaned out the canister on my super deluxe for the first time and found a broken washer laying on the bottom. Was wondering if there is supposed to be a metal washer installed under the filter?

I wonder if that is the washer that is (was?) crimped to the spring? Perhaps it broke at some time in the past???

There is a washer that is crimped to the spring on there now. I have never changed the oil on this car and am getting it ready for a startup. It had sat in storage for a lot of years before I got it. I found another washer that was sitting below the oil filter and looks to be the same size as the broken one. Not sure if there is supposed to be a washer there or not or if it is suppose to sit on top or should not be there period.

I would think someone dropped one in there by mistake.

Is there a center stand in place on the bottom of the center tube? (that the filter sits on)

It is a sure bet that the washers did not come thru the 1/4" oil line.

Yes, there is a center stand on the bottom of the center tube that the filter sits on.
