47 long door coupe

Bob Drake shows the hood springs available. C W Moss shows they have the upper hinge assemblies in stock (stainless) but out of stock at Drake. I assume you are referring to the trunk support/spring assemblies and not the hinges? Drake made really nice ones, but they've been out of stock for years. Have a set on my 48 coupe and they are great. Like you I had nothing on my 42 coupe when I started on it. One of the most difficult things to find on the car. I think I called every Early V8 vendor in the country and struck out. There was a set of Drake ones on eBay for $500 which I thought was insane, but I think they sold! I do have an extra set of used ones I think I would sell if you want to P.M.me.

Some years ago here a member talked about how adjusting the bolts of the hood hinges can reduce hood sag. It looks like my '47 hood springs were replaced but now it sags a bit so when i'm spending much time under there I prop it with a cut-off brome handle.

Yeah, I found on my ‘46 Mercury that I had to tighten the hinge bolts pretty snug to get the hood to stay up. That was with new springs. The Merc hood is longer and heavier than a Ford hood, but all the hinge hardware is the same
