‘46 Merc fist start… no spark

Dang, I hate ignition issues! Getting ready to start my ‘46 Mercury after full restoration. It’s all original with correct 59A engine. Starting some initial checks, and I have no spark. New battery, coil was done by Skip H, distributor and condenser gone thru by Thirdgen. I have 6.7volts at battery, 5.7volts at coil. Resistor was the original when I last drove the car 30 years ago. Any suggested checks before pulling the distributor? I’m assuming I can install a plug wire into the high tension output of the coil and see if I get a spark to ground, to isolate any issue to distributor caps, rotor and wires ( they’re also new from Thirdgen).

Any other ideas? Thanks in advance

Re: ‘46 Merc fist start… no spark

UPDATE… problem was the high tension wire from the coil to the distributor. I had tried that and pushed on it multiple times to ensure it was snapped in to the coil. But the rubber boot was keeping it from seating fully. I used another plug wire from another coil and I had lots of spark. Removed the rubber boot and I could feel the wire snap in to the coil. Now I have spark at all the plugs. Feel like an idiot, but at least I’m a big step closer to starting it.

Always best to check the basics with Old Iron. Glad you are making progress.
