46 Ford Speedometer

Got another question regarding using original speedometer with automatic transmission? I have a new cable,female end into the transmission,and the male end that goes into the speedometer on the back. It is not registering
and I checked the speedometer gear,before I installed it, and it is moving. Would appreciate any advice,of any one with this same experience.

I purchased an after market speedometer cable it would not work with 46 speedometer.Purchased a new old stock cable and it has been great .using 46 speedometer and a muncie 4 speed.Good Luck.
