All the glass in our 46 fordor has the usual glass bug except for one rear door window that has the following script. Would this be a replacement glass or did Ford use these sometimes. Can anyone decipher the code? The rear window, which has a slight curve to it and I don't think is safety glass, says "Herculite AS 9 46". Could that mean our car was made late in the model year (Sept 1946)?
Thanks. John
PS, Just found in the EFV8 club book on 41-48 Fords "Thus it was degreed in mid-February, 1947, that the 1946 passenger cars coming off Ford assembly lines would be titled as 1947 models. It was early April before the interior and exterior styling changes were added to the 47 models being shipped".
Thanks. John
