‘46 Ford and Merc swaybar link question

I’m doing ‘46 Mercury and I’ve looked at several local cars to see how the sway bar is oriented at the links to the front axle. Some cars have the sway bar ends above the axle, with the links vertical “down” to the axle/wishbone. In this setup, the sway bar is horizontal, and it has only about 1/2” clearance below the shock. This clearance seems problematic. Other cars I’ve looked at have the sway bar angled down and the connecting links angle down below the point where they attach to the axle/wishbone assy. This setup looks like there would be no possible interference with the Houdaille shocks. Hope my descriptions make sense. Which setup is correct? Thanks

I’m not sure which is correct but you can change the angle by changing the length of the dog bone connection. Ive seen it both ways as you have . Keep in mind the springs have aged and most cars are sitting a little lower than factory new .

Can anyone give more information on the original question or look at a '46-'48 ford for reference please? I have the same issue and I'm not sure if the correct orientation of the front sway bar ends are up or are they down? Up and the sway bar is close to the shock body.....Thanks!
