46-48 Ford Convertible Window regulator

Hi Guys
I have a worn out 46 Ford RH Window regulator, I have spent at least 3 days trying to get it work but worn out gears are making it difficult.
So my question is can I use a 46-48 Coupe/Sedan Door Window regulator, I realize I will have to drill some new regulator mount holes but will it work and will the window go up and down .

Being that the mounting is different; would it be possible to use the pinion assy from the closed car regulator to replace the bad pinion on your convert regulator? The teeth on the sector can be repaired with a welder and file. I've repaired several regulators in the past by mixing parts and welding teeth.

I did make a template of the different mounting holes and only one corresponds with the Convertible regulator, I don't mid drilled extra holes I have tried using the pinion from the closed car but I just couldn't get it to work, I am thinking of buying a new pinion from Ali Express or I will try fitting the closed car regulator and see what happens, maybe the different gearing will either make it harder or easier to wind up the window. I think if I tried welding teeth I would make a mess of it. Thank you for your help.
