Wondering if anyone has found a source for the running board bolts on a 46 1.5 ton truck. I'm not sure if they are the same size as a half ton. But i'm thinking no.

The square under the head is 1/2 then it goes down to a 5/16 bolt with fine threads. 1 1/2 inches long.

Plan be is to just make some or just make another carriage bolt work.

Page 610 of the green parts book has a section "Running Board Bolts, Nuts and Washers" . The longest carriage bolt they show is 1".

The carriage bolts holding the running boards to the brackets on the 40 tonner are 5/16 -24 X 1”. As I recall I got them from Roy Naciewicz along with all the other hardware on the truck.

The ones on my 1947 were just standard carriage bolts - I don't remember the thread size but 5/16-24 x 1" sounds right.

Just as food for thought...I don't remember which year they made the change, but if the bolts don't go all the way through, bolt the running boards down before you mount the cab...trust me. The headache isn't worth it :(

Looks like threaded bolt is 1 inch. Square is 1/2 inch. Do the 5/16 carriage bolts you guys have found have a 1/2 square head?
