41 rear brake plumbing

Does anyone have a view of the forward plumbing, where the two lines from the wheel cylinders go forward and connect to a tee? I have what appears to be factory lines from the wheel cylinders, about half way forward. The rest is missing. I can see the clips that secure the lines to the radius rods. And, I have no clue what the line looks like, from the tee, to the short hose.
Does anyone have Kube's 40 book? Would there be an image in the book?

The short flex line fits onto a brass fitting that is bolted to the top of one of the rear radius rods, the two steel brake lines also connect to the same brass fitting.
 
Bobh, Here's some photos of a '46 prior to restoration. I believe this is the same as your '41.
If the '41 is the same as '40 (I know little about '41 Fords) then the photograph of the restored rear chassis should help.

bobH: Here's some 1940 Ford coupe brake line photos that may help you. The brake lines from the rear wheels that run along the wishbone are the originals on the car in 1940. I think 1941 is the same. You can see that the torque tube center bearing rubber casing has dissolved. That's why the rear end was removed.
Here's a pictorial of the 1946 Ford brake lines. Notice, they appear to be different from 1939-41 where they connect at the front of the wishbone.

Also, page 23 of this book shows a pictorial of the 1939-41 passenger brake line layout and connections. It's not the same as 1946. Good book to buy.

For 41-48 Ford did use the 99A-2073 bracket for the rear brake hose. You can see that in Kube's second photo above.
 
Terry, thanks for jogging my memory. I thought '41 was the same as later years but was not 100% certain.
 
1941 is a confusing year due to the car chassis being 'NEW" and the pickup truck being a carryover design. The OP was not clear on what 1941 body style he has.

You have made a good point.
Well, at this time, he should have enough photos of both routings to get him going in the correct direction.
Too bad he (the OP) has become MIA.
 
Sorry about MIA..... been down for maintenance... in hospital. All is well now.
A huge thanks guys for the info... it's perfect, above and beyond. And, perhaps, the info I wanted is so close to what is used in 40, is because my 41 is, indeed, a pickup. So, hopefully that explains a little. As all of you well know, the 41 rear axle assembly, either passenger or pickup, is very close to being the same as 40. The noticeable difference is the 'limiters'. So, it stands to reason that the brake plumbing should be nearly the same as 40.

Maintenance? Glad all is well now :)
 
Late 80's.... Check engine light comes on more often than I would like. So far, I think it's fussing with these old Fords that keeps me going. It's getting harder to be under and re-plumbing brakes, but I still force myself to do it. Maybe this will be the last one. And, I've said that for the last two or so. I have a goal to drive this one on a trip in October, so that keeps me going.

Bob, while you have a few years on me, we are in the same proverbial boat. I won't stop until I'm forced to.
I firmly believe that's what keeps us moving... not stopping.

Maybe we were in the same physics class.....






The first image is of the direction I'm heading with the new plumbing. Not factory, but in my opinion will look neater than the spaghetti patch. Haven't yet decided on long hose vs short hose. Will probably use short hose.

The second image is what I call the spaghetti patch. Someone had taken the forward plumbing, and folded it rearward, with the Tee hanging loose near the torque tube. All of this is being discarded.

I like the routing with the flex hose directly connected to the tee fitting. I'd also add clips as close as possible before the two bends coming up the radius rods.
