41 pu bed part

Hello, I bought this part for my 41 pu. Can someone tell me what the short bracket is for ? Also, what is the indentation on the bottom of the panel for?Thanks

That looks like the fill in piece that goes between the running board and the bed behind the cab

Action has it correct. It's the fill in piece between the bed and running board.

Thanks guys for your replies. What I really wanted to know is, what is the purpose of the thin strip of metal with 2 holes in it, on the inside of the panel?

Those are bolt holes to bolt the panel to the bottom edge of the bed.

I had mine louvered prior to painting.

the small strap is to support the bottom of the panel and screws to the wood bed mount .the bump i clearance is to clear the bump on the running board

Thanks again Rustynut. Will be interesting trying to screw that strap to the wood when the deck is on! LOL.
