41 panel truck grille and hood question

Today I was trying to fit my grille and hood on my 41 panel and discovered that the latch doesn't line up right with the top grille support. The truck had a 39 deluxe grille in it when I bought it and the hood worked just fine. The 39 grille is now long gone and I have a 40 standard grille. The 41 hood latch should work with the 40 - 41 grille I would assume. Where some 41's different from the factory? I have seen a few 41's with 39 grilles. Anyone else have this problem?

Ok, I think I have figured out what the problem is. I have a hood from a 6 cylinder truck and the top grille support from a V8 truck. They had to move everything forward 2 1/2 inches because the 6 is so long, so thats why everything is so far off. Does anyone have a spare top grill support from a 6 cylinder truck? I can either buy it or trade my V8 grille support.

You're on the right track. I have not seen a 41 six setup in person. I've seen many V8s and a few 4s. It makes me wonder how many sixes were made. I did see a six hood used on a cobbled up hot rod truck with a v8 rad support. Due to the differences the owner had to use a bungie cord to hold the hood down. I'll keep an look out for one in the area for one.

ps. Mine is a mutt it has a 40 hood on it.

All 41's have the hood latch toward the front regardless of engine. The upper grille brace you have now is for a '40. You can't buy the '41 grille brace aftermarket even though they list it as 40-41.

Sweet. Hopefully I can find one now that I know what I'm looking for. I'm trying to avoid the bungie setup. I know I can modify the brace I have but I sure would rather find the right parts.

On my 40 panel I used a 41 pickup hood. The latch would not line up. Not even close. I ended up using an after market hood latch with the release cable going to the dash.
