I have a 41 Mercury convertible and the speedometer quit working. I went searching today and noticed the small cable that turns, inside the cable, broke at the fitting in transmission area. The cable was stuck inside the gear drive piece. Is there a new inside cable I can buy to side in and cut to size or do you have to buy a whole new cable, if so do you guys have recommendations on which one to buy.

Thanks,

In the past you could buy the inside cable, don't know if still available. . I advise checking with a local auto pat store and check ebay. These are pretty much universal but I have had no experience with pre-49 cars to definitely tell you it will work ok.

I have a nors speedometer Cable repair Kit (inside cable) made by Dorman. It is 113 inches long. It can be shortened. Instructions included. It is yours for 10.00 including shipping.. email or message me if you want it. I'll take a check

i recently purchased a new speedometer cable for my '41 Ford Super Deluxe from thirdgenauto.com

IIRC it was 70" long. and might want to check that the broken end of the cable isn't stuck in the "turtle".

it was about $20. equal to four happy meals. :)
