Im having a problem with my coil to dist, the engine loses fire and dies, I have to loosen the coil and move it around a little tighten it back up and then it starts and runs with no problem again. It did it with the stock coil a couple times and I changed it to 12 volts and used a coil adapter and thought it cured the problem but i was wrong. It did it three times this weekend. What do i need to do to cure this? Please bare with me as this is my first time running a flathead..

It could be the cone shaped spring on the bottom of the coil is not in the cup correctly to make good contact or the carbon brush is getting stuck up in the hole of the coil and not contacting the rotor. They aresupposed to be a in and out springey action. I think they had a problem with this a while back. ken ct.

Intermiitent problems some times is nothing more then a loose wire.
The the end that goes to coil and give a tug and see if you can pull it off.
Sometimes the coating on wire holds it together.Check all wires, could even run dirrect off battery for testing.
