hey guys, i thought i should introduce myself here. what i mean buy the title is since i was 15 yrs old ive loved chevys and hated fords. well most of them anyway.that is until i stopped at a mans house who had a bunch of old ford trucks and a few cars around his yard.made freinds with him and in the last 3 yrs ive gone to a few chevys to about 3 i now have a 62 galaxie 2dr hard top a 53 ranchwagon a 65 falcon wagon a 68 mustang, those are the ones that are on the road. i have a few projects, also fords. and to make my change over complete i now have 10 big block ford engines sittin in my shop floor along with a couple sbf and one flat head.when i change i quess i go all the way. now ive bought my wife a 30 tudor sedan body to build her. and its nothing but a body. no floor subrails frame NOTHING.!. but im gonna build this car come hell or high water.!!. i love the old sedans, always have. but now my health is slipping due to bad bike wreck which left me kinda crippled up so its now or never. i came to the fordbarn from the hamb.ive been told this is where its happening for the old fords so here i am. i hope you all can teach this old man whats what about these old fords. cause i dont know squat.i can not tell a 28 from a 31 so i need all you can throw at me.lol sorry for the long thread but i fiqured to let you know whats up with the new guy.lol thanks oh yea i got to get my wife to post pics for me cause no matter how hard i try i cant seem to retain the info for how to do it. brain damage from the wreck.

Welcom to the club Outlaw. I hope the wreck wasn't to bad, there is another gentleman in the Barn who is in a wheelchair and he drives his coupe daily. Ask lots of questions about your car and you will get pages of answers. The sedan you have is a great car to start out with as there is lots of room-that and I am partial to the sedans.

To start you off, a 28/29 has a small radiator and the 30/31 has the larger radiator (like yours). The wheels are also different 21" vs. 19" and the dash is different from 28-early 30 to late 30 and into 31. Grab Les Andrew's books and the judging standards they will answer a lot of your questions.

Welcome aboard Im a chevy man to and got a taste of the Model A ford once I started to do a little history on it I was hooked. I now have 4 As and a british built Thems in my stabels so no worrys here. as far as the memory loss my short term memory is not there I will start to head to my truck in the front yard wich i might add is only 100 feet away from my garage and i'll forget what I was headding to it for.

When asked by a young patrol officer "Do you know you were speeding?" This 83-year old woman talked herself out of a ticket by stating: "Yes, but ... I had to get there before I forgot where I was going."

dear outlaw 256 welcome to the forum there are varying degress of knowledge here and no one will judge you for your questions...feel free to e-mail me any time you need some help....regards gump

thanks guys. im gonna ask so many questions you all will start sending me books instead. lol.hope they have alot of pictures so i dont forget what i read.lol

Welcome Outlaw ...Don't worry everyone is real nice here. Im young as well only 29. I find ford barn to be very helpful and a great way to make friends.

Welcome Outlaw. This is the best forum I have ever seen or used. You won't believe the knowledge, help, time saved and $$$$$$ saved by asking and using this group of proud "A" owners.

A suggestion to give you a healthy head start is to watch the evil ebay for complete chassis. A lot of street rodders with too much money will pull a body from a restored car and sell the rest. It would certainly cut out a lot of search time for individual componants.

Outlaw...welcome!
Hope we can help you with your questions and to succeed with your wifes' Model A. I can kinda relate to your introduction in several ways ! Don't ride bikes no more either.
As far as memory goes, there's this advice/knowledge that my wife gave me quite awhile back...it seems to work! She said that a mans' brain is in his butt ! She said that when I forget what I was going to do...just immediately sit down and you'll remember , almost instantly, what it was that you were going to do !! Works for me.

hey hardtimes. i heard that a mans brain was in his but also but thats because thats where he has his head. dont believe me just ask my wife.lol
